“I like to call it my
mid-life *catharsis*,” tracyshaun says of his musical awakening.
“Truth is, I have the rest of my life in front of me and my soul is
on fire.” Sometimes, it’s just one moment in a person’s life that
wakes them up to the possibilities. For tracyshaun, his musical life
begins at year 0 and a desire to awaken himself to his creative
truth and to spark life into those that come to listen.
tracyshaun is a soulful singer-songwriter from northern California
with deep Texas roots. His unique voice and distinctive
finger-picking reinvents the folk and alt-country traditions with
songs about love and transformation.
tracyshaun writes poignant and richly melodic songs about love and
creative independence. His strong voice retells stories of love,
heartbreak and everyone’s journey to be more than themselves.
His influences ranging from Townes van Zandt to Connor Oberst and
from Leo Kottke to Iron & Wine. He counts Walt Whitman, Gertrude
Stein, Jack Kerouac, Bob Dylan and Steve Earle as forebears to his
lyric style. tracyshaun reinvents himself with every performance and
takes you with him through his songs of self.
tracyshaun studied poetry & Buddhism at Naropa University and is a
veteran of internet start-ups since ‘98. Out of much writing and
early performance art, he has reignited and reinvented himself and
his music in 2008. Having played guitar since a teenager, he has
finally come into his own as a singer and songwriter this year. He
is hard at work creating an EP of his music. He currently plays in
and around the Marin county and San Francisco bay areas.

Valerie Jay Band

.jpg)
Statuesque songbird Valerie Jay was born and raised in Hull, county
of Yorkshire, England. The youngest of five children, Jay picked up
the guitar at fifteen and founded her first band Skyline, performing
her own material. Drawing influences from great country performers
such as Patsy Cline, Emmy Lou Harris, Linda Ronstadt and k.d. Lang,
Jay fronted the hottest band on the country circuit, playing
festivals and country music clubs all over England. An early music
review in the local press 'Hull Daily Mail' raved "Valerie Jay has a
great country voice, quite haunting". Fortuitously, Jay met country
guitar legend Albert Lee
(www.albertlee.co.uk)
who performs on her independently released debut CD 'Only When You
Smile'. (Available from
www.cdbaby.com
and the Virgin Megastore, San Francisco).
Although Nashville beckoned, in 2001 a combination of circumstances
led Jay to move her home base to eclectic San Francisco, California.
Here, 'Valerie Jay & The Americanos' was born: a country based,
roots-rock band that plays Jay's original songs next to classic
Americana favorites. Bay Area rock and pop audiences are being
converted right and left by the beauty and depth of Jay's formidable
voice, and her winning combination of traditional country and
cutting edge radio-ready hits. Former senior editor of Rolling Stone
magazine and veteran music journalist Ben Fong-Torres sings her
praises: "Valerie Jay is a country belter out of England - Emmylou,
Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt - Jay's right in there, mixing country
and soul, her voice full of heartbreak and passion."

Tim Moos
Saturday July 4th , 2009
Patio Live Performance
music starts at 2:00 pm
Call. 650-365-3226 for

.JPG)
Known for his
passionate piano-driven songs, Tim Moos’ music is frequently
compared to Damien rice, David Gray, and occasionally old-school
rock ballads like Guns and Roses and Lynyrd Skynyrd. “My music is
very emotional because I am emotional. I feel love, and I write
about love. I feel fear and I write about fear,. There are no
secrets and no pretense in my music. I want people to recognize
themselves in it. “ This theme is most evident in such aching
melodies as “Breaking” and “Standing Here.” The seductive quality
of Tim’s music is it’s polarity – an almost idealistic reverence
toward love and romance contrasted with a strain that is decidedly
hedonistic. In “Lie to me” he sings about a one night stand, yet
the lyrics betray a certain affection that draws the listener in. He
is credited with powerful and moving performances, and can be heard
also on myspace.com/timmoos.

the boundaries of the typical Latin jazz singer. With her thirst for

Lee Waterman - Guitarist, Composer
Lee is originally from New York, where his early interest in
music was nurtured by his grandmother, a locally prominent classical
pianist. At the age of nine he studied drums and later played in the
school band. In his late teens, Lee took up guitar and Latin
percussion. For the next several years he studied jazz guitar and
music theory with internationally known guitarist and author, Warren
Nunes. This strong foundation in the classic jazz styles plus the
multicultural influences of percussion studies forged his eclectic
compositional style.
Among his credits, Lee has led several Bay-Area based combos
throughout the last two decades, has performed
with sax great John Handy, and opened for many headliners, including
Tito Puente and Pancho Sanchez.
"From samba to mambo, bossa to
bolero and bebop - to Lee Waterman's original compositions, Jazz
Caliente percolates with West Coast cool." -- Jesse Chuy Varela
Melecio Magdaluyo - Tenor and Soprano Sax, Flute, Clarinet, and
Congas
Melecio is without doubt one
of the finest reed men on the West Coast. He has appeared and
recorded with Ray Charles, Tito Puente, Eddy Palmieri, George
Coates, Pete Escovedo and John Santos' Machete Ensemble. He and Lee
are the founding members of the group and have been working together
since 1988.
Michael Wilcox - Electric Bass
Michael has performed with Richie Cole, the Fifth Dimension,
Jerry Lee Lewis, the Oakland Eastbay Symphony, Eddie Duran, Jules
Broussard, Tom Coster, and Larry Schneider. He was an Adjunct
Faculty member in the Jazz Department at San Jose State University
for five years (1989-1994) and currently teaches at the Jazzschool
in Berkeley.
Michael has appeared twice at
Chez Hanny with the Sheldon Brown Group.
Dan is one of the
hottest young drummers on the jazz scene today. He plays
authentic samba, bossa nova and baiao rhythms of Brazil, as well
as many Afro-Cuban, jazz, and popular idioms. His energetic and
propulsive style is beautiful balanced by his impeccable sense
of timing and sound color. Dan is one of the few American
drummers to have fully absorbed the sound and accent of
Afro-Cuban and Brazilian percussion into his own style. He
graduated from the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston
in the early ninties.
Dan has Recorded with Alex DeGrassi and toured with Shelby Lynne
and Linda Perry. Since coming to the Bay Area he has performed
with Lavay Smith the Red Hot Skillet Lickers (5 years), Vivendo
De Pao (2 years)., and many other top Northern California
bands.
Tommy Kesecker-Vibraphone and percussion
Tommy graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and
currently records and tours internationally with world renowned
group Zakir Hussain and the Rhythm Experience. Other recent projects
include "the Different Drums and Percussion Group", which performs
for and educates local children.
Tommy has appeared at the
Monterey Jazz Festival and Russian River Jazz Festival as well as a
variety of concert venues throughout the U.S. and beyond.

When
these 3 rockin’ artists combine their talents, the
result is magical. Their onstage synergy, playful
chatter, and seasoned musicianship intoxicates and
delights their audiences. Performing mostly originals,
they trade off lead
vocals over a musical canvas of acoustic guitar, piano,
percussion, and smoking lead guitar.
AMY
MEYERS: Multi instrumentalist, Amy brings 36 years of
piano, 22 years of acoustic guitar, and 27 years of
songwriting to the group. She has released 7 CD’s of
which her latest, Lucky charted in the top 20 on
Folk Radio in 2008 with the single, Summertown
reaching #4. Amy is a dynamic performer - both
playfully energetic and draw-you-in sincere. With her
infectious melodies and straight from the heart lyrics,
her songs will have you singing, dancing, crying, or
laughing.

JENI
DAY: Singer, songwriter, rockin’ blues “axe-sister” Jeni
is geared up to drop a massive earhole attack on
unsuspecting Bay Area audiences. Indie-Music.com warns
“if you aren’t stirred or moved in some way by Day’s
guitar playing, then you really must check for a
pulse.”
As
humble in person as she is badass with a pick in her
hand, Jeni will soon have you saying, “Girls aren’t
supposed to play guitar like that!” Yeah, we know…

JUDEA EDEN: Powerhouse vocalist Judea Eden possesses a
raw sincerity that has made her a favored icon of the
San Francisco Bay Area music scene for decades. Eden
has delighted audiences
at
the Monterey Pop Festival, SF Gay Pride and many other
nationally recognized events with her original blues and
jazz influenced rock n' roll. Her songs can be heard in
film soundtracks and are in regular rotation at
pioneering radio stations KFOG, KPIG and KUSF.
Magazines like Curve and Girlfriends, and award winning
papers like the SF Bay Guardian & SF Weekly have praised
her work. Eden is currently working on her
much-anticipated 4th full-length release.

COUNTY LINE
TRIO,
performing their salute to the famous “Kingston Trio” with a
rousing show that incorporates the original arrangements of their
many hit songs. Remember Tom Dooley, Charlie on the MTA, Scotch and
Soda, Worried Man, and Where Have All The Flowers Gone? These and
many other great folk music classics are blended with a delightful
helping of tongue-in-cheek humor that would make even the Smother
Brothers envious.
For the past 33 years, the COUNTY
LINE TRIO has performed in numerous venues, from the nightclub
stage, street festival, corporate function and private party to the
concert stage. They have always been welcomed by
enthusiasticaudiences, eager to take that nostalgic trip back to the
days when everyone sang along to the familiar refrains of the great
folk hits. There is still a wealth of these enthusiasts longing for
that “original sound” which consisted of simple arrangements of
three part harmony accompanied by acoustic guitars and a banjo, and
performed with inspiring gusto. This simple formula blended with a
generous serving of humor and irreverence makes a COUNTY LINE
TRIO performance a truly entertaining journey down memory
lane. Their biggest fan support comes from “Kingston Trio”
enthusiasts who applaud their faithfulness to the original Kingston
Trio arrangements.
The COUNTY LINE TRIO has opened
shows for comedian Pat Paulsen, troubadour Glen Yarbrough,
country western star Teri Gibbs, and singer songwriter, and
former member of the Kingston Trio, John Stewart. They
produced their first album entitled “Going Home” which was recorded
“live” and is available on CD and cassette.
The COUNTY LINE TRIO is
comprised of Tod Brendlen, Bud Olsen and Dean Hammer who for the
past 33 years have developed a very polished and thoroughly
entertaining act. Their presentations of songs from the Kingston
Trio repertoire inspire audiences to raise their voices in song and
clap along to those old familiar classics. It’s a show you don’t
want to miss if it comes your way. You are guaranteed to walk away
with a warm fuzzy feeling.

27strings is a
fresh and energetic bluegrass band known for its strong vocals,
great harmonies, and fast-paced fiddle tunes. The five musicians in
the group played together socially for about two years before
forming the band in February, 2009. Since then they’ve played a
variety of events and venues throughout the Bay Area. Heavily
influenced by both bluegrass originals (Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin,
Hazel Dickens) and more recent performers (Alison Krauss, Chris
Thiele, Tony Rice), the group does justice to a variety of songs and
tunes. Greg Frees is an outstanding mandolin player and arranges
much of their material. Tom Bull charms audiences with his
energetic
vocals and powerful guitar. Aric Wilmunder on fiddle and Hildy
Licht on banjo add color, depth, and drive to the music, and Anne
Adams, on bass and tenor, holds down the beat.

SAVANNAH JO
LACK
I love deserts and oceans. I love
feeling the freezing cold air in my face as I ride down hills at night. I find
it difficult to walk slowly. I grew up in a little town in Australia where i
rode my bike around and climbed trees and made up fantastic stories. Around age
4, a violin bit me. We've been friends ever since. I've played with it in
orchestras and recording sessions from Berlin to Nashville to L.A. It's been a
long and strange journey across seas, through towns and lovers beds and concert
halls and clubs and shows and festivals. Now I am here. Writing songs, singing
them....mostly by myself, sometimes with a band of brilliant lights
TAMRA ENGLE

songwriter who's latest release The Blonde Flame Session was on the Nominating

Neil Young; With a career in music spanning more than twenty-five years. This
engaging acoustic performer has worked as a studio musician in Los Angeles and
toured the country tirelessly. She has had songs placed in television movies,
and nationally aired commercials; and now is your chance to catch her live and

Pyrotechnians THE BOBS bring their trademark musical
acrobatics to Angelica's Bistro on June 5th. Originally
from San Francisco, The Bobs, the original "band without
instruments" have been touring, recording, and breaking the
boundaries of all musical genres for over 25 years, to the
amazement of audiences from Lincoln Center to Berlin's Passionkirche to the Great American Music Hall. This is
not your father's a cappella quartet!
With 14 CDs, 3 DVDs and a
host of commericals and movies to their credit, The Bobs
have garnered a healthy national cult following. Their
most recent CD, Get Your Monkey Off My Dog, was
named one of the Top 25 Independent CDs of 2008, and their
penultimate recording, Rhapsody in Bob , which
inspired a show that recently toured Fine Arts venues across
the country, featured their critically acclaimed, truly
unique arrangement of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" with a
guest pianist and The Bobs as a "Vocal Orchestra." A
documentary about the band, SIGN MY SNARLING MOVIE: 25
Years of The Bobs was released in 2007.
The genre "a cappella" typically conjures one of two
images: that of a dorky, bow-tie-clad Ivy League group,
usually with a goofy name (Yale Whiffenpoofs, I'm looking at
you), or that of the Carmen Sandiego-seeking,
Folgers-endorsing vocal band Rockapella. The Bobs are an a
cappella quartet that falls outside both traditions. Neither
conventional nor stuffy, they mostly perform original songs,
and they've taken a page from the Ramones On Wednesday
night at the Barns of Wolf Trap, the Bobs showcased their
sense of humor alongside their vocal prowess Dan Bob
Schumacher's fiery facial expressions recalled those of Jack
Black from "School of Rock"; Richard Bob Greene's
anchor-solid bass was both seductive and devious on "Little
Red Riding Hood"; Matthew Bob Stull's whiplike interjections
of "hoo-hah!" propelled the lively "Disappointment Pants";
and the group reveled in its madrigal-style version of the
Doors' "Light My Fire." What began as a fairly
straightforward arrangement of Cream's "White Room" quickly
became Bobified, with Amy Bob Engelhardt's vocals passing
through a distortion pedal to provide the song's squealing
guitar solo, with the result as entertaining as it was
convincing.
